GARLIC WARNING!!!!!! - Scary!

DO NOT EAT GARLIC ANYMORE. IT IS VERY VERY DANGEROUS   GARLIC WARNING!!

For years Doctors and scientists have told us

That some foods are good for us only to be told

Later that they are bad for us, and again they tell us

That some foods are bad for us, and all the time

They've been good for us and there doesn't seem

To be much proof either way to suggest what is

Good or bad - - until now that is.

Garlic is definitely BAD for us

"You Are What You Eat"!

A threatening message to employees about how they should vote

Help, I'm trapped in my Samsung smartphone on AT&T

-------- Original message --------
Subject:A threatening message to employees about how they should vote
From:"Chris Bowers, Daily Kos" <campaigns@dailykos.com>
To:danny6114@live.com
Cc:

Daniel, please sign our petition calling on the Wisconsin attorney general to investigate Mike White, chairman and owner of Milwaukee based Rite-Hite, to determine if White broke the law when he emailed his employees about "personal consequences" if President Obama wins reelection. Click here to sign.

Around the country, there have been disturbing reports of employers sending vaguely, and sometimes not-so-vaguely, threatening messages to employees about how they should vote in the upcoming presidential election. Take, for example, the email that Mike White, chairman and owner of Milwaukee-based Rite-Hite, sent to his employees a few days ago:

"[Employees] should understand the personal consequences to them of having our tax rates increase dramatically if President Obama is re-elected, forcing taxpayers to fund President Obama's future deficits and social programs (including Obamacare), which require bigger government."

This email appears to violate Wisconsin statute 12.07 (3) which expressly forbids "threats intended to influence the political opinions or actions of the employees."

We need to take a stand against employers telling their workers how to vote. Please sign our petition calling on the Wisconsin attorney general to investigate whether or not Mr. White broke the law when he sent this email to employees.

Keep fighting,
Chris Bowers
Campaign Director, Daily Kos

Dear Daniel,

Last week, a report by The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy ranked Missouri as 43rd in the nation for its energy efficiency efforts. Read more here.

“Missouri remains a laggard when it comes to encouraging energy efficiency, according to a national report released Wednesday. The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy sixth-annual energy efficiency scorecard ranked the Show-Me State 43rd for its energy efficiency efforts…

“The study evaluates a variety of state policies and programs aimed at reducing energy use in homes, businesses and the transportation sector…

“The East and West coasts, areas where energy prices are higher, continued to lead the rankings. But states in the nation's mid-section are gaining ground. They include two of Missouri's neighbors, Iowa, at No. 11, and Illinois, which moved up three spots to No. 14.

Steven Nadel, ACEEE's executive director, said energy efficiency is being embraced by by both Democrats and Republicans in many states and will play an increasingly important role in helping meet the country's energy needs, creating jobs and benefiting the environment.”

To learn more about our efforts to keep Missourians’ energy rates fair, check out our website, and sign the petition. Don’t forget to share this message with your friends and neighbors.

The First Photo of the Earth and Moon

By 1977, mankind had already seen what its planet looked like from the Moon (thanks to the lunar orbiter) and sent astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the surface (confirming once and for all that no, there isn't cheese under all that regolith). But it wasn't until September 18 of that year that Earthlings got to see, for the first time, both heavenly bodies together in a single frame, as snapped by NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft.

The primary mission of Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft was to explore the moons and rings around Jupiter and Saturn. But as Voyager 1 left the Earth-Moon system, scientists had it look back. The first-of-its-kind photo-taken at 7.25 million miles from Earth while Voyager 1 was directly above Mount Everest-is actually a combination of three images shot through different color filters and developed at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Scientists used computer enhancement to brighten the Moon so that it could be seen clearly in the image.

Though the Voyager spacecraft were only built to last 5 years, they're still kicking 35 years after launch: Both are currently at the edge of our solar system, in the Heliosheath-where solar wind starts to slow, thanks to pressure from interstellar gas-and are sending back data through the Deep Space Network. They have enough power to keep communicating through 2020.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE From Gateway Paralyzed Veterans

Sent: September 07, 2012 04:12 PM

Dear Friends and PVA Members:

The Gateway Chapter PVA was nominated by an unknown Chase credit card holder to participate (along with 195 other charities) in a voting battle to gain a share of their $5 million "Chase Community Giving" grant!  Now, we just need you to spread the word for us.
Any Chase credit card holder can log onto their account or onto their Facebook page and cast a vote for the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Gateway Chapter.  It's easy to do!  Once you log in with your Chase user I.D. and password (using the link below), just conduct a charity search for the Paralyzed Veterans of America, then choose the St. Louis chapter address OR, even easier, plug in our Federal EIN (51-0217506) in the search box; please note there are other PVA chapters who were also nominated, so make sure you choose the PVA office located at 1311 Lindbergh Plaza in St. Louis.  The more votes we receive, the bigger portion of the grant money we will receive for our member programs.  This Chase Community Giving program comes at a critical time, when PVA has cut our funding - so please vote for us and tell your friends to do so, as well!

Go to:
www.chasegiving.com and cast your vote now through September 19th only!  Don't hesitate - don't procrastinate - just disseminate.  Okay, okay, not the best rhyme I've ever done, but you get the idea.  Hurry up and vote - then spread the word for others to do the same.  We only have until the 19th to accumulate as many votes as possible.

Thank you so much!!!

Susan
