Dear MoveOn member,

Great news! Moments ago, President Obama's Justice Department filed a lawsuit to stop Arizona's shameful anti-immigrant law.1

The law—which requires police to stop anyone they "reasonably" suspect of being in the country illegally, and demand proof of citizenship—is an affront to American values.2

But it's a favorite of the right, and Republicans are already slamming the Obama administration's decision.3

So we've got to show President Obama that progressives have his back. Can you call the White House today and thank President Obama for taking action to stop Arizona's discriminatory anti-immigrant law? Here's where to call:

Standing up against this law, which has support in opinion polls from voters deeply frustrated with federal inaction on immigration,4 wasn't an easy decision, but it's the right thing to do. When President Obama shows bold leadership like this, it's crucial we show him support.

And with Florida already considering a similarly shameful law,5 the decision couldn't come at a more critical time. Can you call the White House right away? Let the president and Justice Department know that progressives are with them in fighting against this racist law.

Thanks for all you do.

P.S. If you're on Facebook or Twitter, can you also post a message of thanks on the White House's Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/WhiteHouse), and tweet a message to them? You can tweet something like this: "@WhiteHouse Thanks for standing up for civil rights and suing to block Arizona's shameful, discriminatory anti-immigrant law." (But use your own words—that's always better!)
