Dear Daniel,

Last week, a report by The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy ranked Missouri as 43rd in the nation for its energy efficiency efforts. Read more here.

“Missouri remains a laggard when it comes to encouraging energy efficiency, according to a national report released Wednesday. The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy sixth-annual energy efficiency scorecard ranked the Show-Me State 43rd for its energy efficiency efforts…

“The study evaluates a variety of state policies and programs aimed at reducing energy use in homes, businesses and the transportation sector…

“The East and West coasts, areas where energy prices are higher, continued to lead the rankings. But states in the nation's mid-section are gaining ground. They include two of Missouri's neighbors, Iowa, at No. 11, and Illinois, which moved up three spots to No. 14.

Steven Nadel, ACEEE's executive director, said energy efficiency is being embraced by by both Democrats and Republicans in many states and will play an increasingly important role in helping meet the country's energy needs, creating jobs and benefiting the environment.”
