They're at it again! Ameren is already filing for yet ANOTHER rate increase on our monthly electric bills, even though they’ve already increased our rates over 26% since February, 2009! Ameren just can’t seem to get enough from our pockets to satisfy them. And now, they’re back for more. "AmerenUE says it will seek another electric rate increase before the end of next month, according to papers filed with the Missouri Public Service Commission." [St. Louis Post Dispatch, 8/4/10] Ameren already raised their rates this year. They asked for a $71 million increase in July. In June they got a $226 million increase! Enough is enough. It’s not fair to expect Missourians to endure any more Ameren rate hikes for the same service we already receive …just to expand Ameren’s already huge profits! Your action changed the course of their last proposed increase. Will you take action, again? In Ameren’s June rate increase, it only got half the rate increase it asked for because of you and your neighbors and the actions you took with the Fair Energy Rate Action Fund to help stop the rate increase.
The Fair Electricity Rate Action Fund is standing up for Missouri consumers and businesses across the state to fight this unfair rate increase. Now is not the time, in the midst of the worst national economic downturn of our lifetimes, to raise the price on the very utilities we depend on – as families, businesses, employers and communities. Hard times are about shared sacrifice. When will Ameren start sharing and stop trying to increase their sizeable profits at our expense? Please, take action today. Use the social-share icons at the top of this email to post it directly to your Facebook and Twitter accounts or to forward this email to your friends and co-workers asking them to oppose any more rate increase by joining FERAF today. We must show Ameren and the PSC we are fed up. Enough is enough. Together, we can protect Missourians from the unfair rate hikes of the greedy utility companies.
