Daniel --
The late Senator Ted Kennedy called providing access to health care for all Americans "the great unfinished business of our society."
He was correct. That is until now.
This morning, I will have the honor to witness President Obama sign comprehensive health insurance reform into law. As proud as we are of this great achievement for America, it would be a mistake to think that this fight has ended now that reform is in the history books.
With the Republicans already attempting to tarnish our great victory, I need your help. Please contribute $5, $10 or more to our Million Dollar Match before the March 31st FEC deadline. As a special thank you for your generous contribution, you will receive an invitation to join me for a conference call later this week to discuss how we can defend the courageous Democratic House Members who made this change possible. The Republicans understand that the world is closely watching and the media will use the critical March 31st filing deadline as a referendum on this historic progress.
That is why they and their special interest allies spent $86 million on misleading advertising to try and stop health insurance reform and have pledged to spend millions more on attack ads targeting our courageous House Democrats who voted to pass this legislation.
I need the support of grassroots Democrats like you. Please contribute $5, $10 or more to our Million Dollar Match before the March 31st FEC deadline. As a special thank you for your generous contribution, you will receive an invitation to join me for a conference call later this week to discuss how we can defend the courageous Democratic House Members who made this change possible.
Passing health insurance reform reminds us of the progress that can be achieved when we fight together for our proud Democratic values.
I will never forget walking arm-in-arm with Congressman John Lewis on our way to the Capitol to cast our votes for this legislation, which our distinguished Majority Whip Jim Clyburn called, "the civil rights act of the 21st century."
Now let us show the world that even after making history together,
we still don't quit!Thank you.
Nancy Pelosi
Speaker of the House
