Dear friends,

You’ve probably seen them -- hand-drawn signs advertising credit repair, foreclosure rescue or quick cash. They are signs of this recession, posted by Hard Times Profiteers seeking to capitalize on the financial misfortune of others, and we need your help documenting them.

As part of our ongoing project on real estate schemes, we're collecting photographs of these signs across the country. Have you spotted them in your neighborhood? Or on your way to work? The next time you see one of these sketchy roadside ads, please snap a photo and send it to us by visiting huffpostfund.org/profiteers. We've already mapped several signs in the Washington, D.C., along with personal stories of real estate schemes shared by our readers, and we're eager to map your photos as well.

Please visit huffpostfund.org/profiteers to find out how to send us your photos and stories, and help us spread the word by forwarding this e-mail to your neighbors and friends.

Meanwhile, we're also partnering with a team of graduate students at the Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism at Columbia University investigating abusive practices in the student loan industry. Can you help them? Please send your tips and stories.

As always, thanks for reading.
