Daniel -- Together with other OFA volunteers, you've pledged over 7 million volunteer hours -- thank you! Now it's time to spring into action, and here's a quick but critical way to begin. Senator Michael Bennet of Colorado and Congressman Tom Perriello of Virginia are two new members of Congress who have stood up for health reform and suffered vicious, deceptive attacks from the opposition. Now they're both facing tough re-election fights, and they need our support. Can you take a few minutes to call independent voters in their districts and let them know that their members of Congress are fighting for them? Call independents in Colorado for Senator Michael Bennet. Call independents in Virginia's 5th district for Congressman Tom Perriello. Just last week, we learned that insurance companies all around the country are trying to jack up rates -- by 39% in California, 23% in Maine, and up to 41% in the D.C. area. This, after health care spending rose at a record rate in 2009. But Bennet's opponent thinks we have "no business" trying to solve these big problems -- and Rep. Perriello's leading opponent actually thinks we should "reverse course" on reform. In Colorado and Virginia, like many places around the country, victory or defeat in 2010 could come down to independent voters. So it's up to us to pick up the phone and make sure folks know the stark choice they'll face in November.
