Missouri piles on yet another anti-choice law

What the hell is wrong with Nixon?

Subject: Missouri piles on yet another anti-choice law

Dear Daniel,

MO_Trust_WomenWednesday, Governor Nixon allowed the anti-choice bill, S.B. 793, to become law without his signature. Our opponents claim that S.B. 793 is an "informed consent" law meant to help women. In reality, it is an ideologically charged law that forces doctors to recite anti-choice propaganda to their patients. This law assumes that women are unable to make their own decisions, and its goal is to shame and intimidate women.

Among other outrageous provisions, this new law requires clinics to display the statement: "The life of each human being begins at conception. Abortion will terminate the life of a separate, unique, living human being." Does that sound like "informed consent" to you?

Anti-choice extremists in Jefferson City are celebrating their cynical victory this week. That's unacceptable. It's time for us to stand up and take back our Capitol. The only way to stop the right-wing juggernaut is to elect more pro-choice advocates to the General Assembly.

That's why NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri has been working hard all summer to prepare for the August and November elections. We have already called thousands of voters, knocked hundreds of doors, mailed thousands of postcards, and given generous financial support to strongly pro-choice candidates. This is why our NARAL sisters in other states gave us the 2010 award for best overall political program. But we need your help to make a difference!

Help us put more pro-choice voices in Jefferson City! Volunteer to door-knock, make phone-calls, prepare mailings, talk to voters, and drag people to the polls.

Call 314.531.8616 or email us to find out more.

Thank you!

Pamela Sumners, Esq.
Executive Director
